About Me

Hey there! My name is Scott Sisskind, and I’m the mind behind Casketsdirect.com. The journey that led me here is very personal, and I’d like to share it with you.

It all started when I went through the difficult task of dealing with the burials of two beloved family members. In both cases, I was stunned by the high costs of their funerals. Paying a hefty price for my Uncle’s casket at the funeral home was an eye-opener, but at the time, I wasn’t aware there was another way.

After my uncle’s burial, I found out about an important FTC ruling. You actually have the right to buy directly from a casket company, bypassing the traditional costly channels. This knowledge changed everything when I faced another heartbreak earlier this year with the passing of my father.

Armed with this newfound understanding, I ordered his casket online and had it delivered straight to the funeral home. The result? I buried my father right next to my uncle, but this time, I saved thousands of dollars.

That experience sparked my mission to call attention to this option. So, I created Casketsdirect.com to help educate others about affordable funeral planning, ensuring that no one unnecessarily shoulders a financial burden during such a vulnerable time.

  1. Wow, what a powerful story — thank you for sharing something so personal and important. It must have been incredibly difficult to lose two family members in quick succession and to see how expensive funeral arrangements can be. I appreciate that you took a painful experience and turned it into a mission to help others avoid unnecessary financial burden by buying directly. That’s generous and practical at the same time. Do you plan to include guides on how to navigate the FTC ruling and find trustworthy casket sellers — especially for people who’ve never dealt with funeral planning before?

This is a great way to make our lives more affordable, at a time that can be a financial strain for working families.

  4. Scott, thank you for sharing such a personal and challenging journey. Dealing with loss is emotionally devastating, and the added stress of unexpected financial burdens can make it even harder. I truly appreciate how you have transformed your heartbreak into a mission to help others.

It’s astonishing how many people remain unaware of the FTC ruling that allows consumers to purchase caskets directly, bypassing the traditional and often costly channels, much like what you experienced with your uncle’s burial. Highlighting this specific consumer right is an essential service.

Your commitment to affordability and education during a family’s most vulnerable time is incredibly thoughtful.

What is the most important piece of advice you can provide regarding the logistics of ordering a casket online? Specifically, are there any common misunderstandings about coordinating delivery with funeral homes that first-time buyers should be aware of?

    • The most important thing is to order only from legitimate sources that can be relied upon. I intend on adding affiliate links to the three most prominent casket direct sources.  Giving people a quick and easy resource to help them choose the best casket for their loved one.  Whether it be a “green” or “traditional” type of casket, they will be empowered with all the options available.

Funerals are very expensive and ordering your loved one’s casket direct is a way of “Eliminating the Middleman” and making funerals more affordable.

You transform personal pain into a lever of public utility, and that is truly worthy. your proposal is not only an economic alternative, it is a form of reappropriation of mourning, dignity and the right to choose without suffering. By breaking the silence around costly funeral practices, you open a space of lucidity and solidarity for so many families.
Your approach is attributable, because it combines lived experience, concrete information and the desire to transmit it. Thank you for making your story a light for others.
